Tough Mudder Event Returns to Northstar Resort This Weekend

LAKE TAHOE – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is advising motorists to expect some delays around the Lake Tahoe area this weekend as thousands of participants and spectators converge on Northstar Resort for the Tough Mudder endurance event.

Event organizers expect more than 15,000 people at the event on Saturday and more than 3,300 on Sunday. Participants will go off in waves starting at 7:20 a.m. on Saturday and 8 a.m. on Sunday, with the final participants expected to complete the course by 7 p.m.

Parking lots at Northstar, Alpine Meadows and Boreal will be used for Saturday's events, with participants being bused from Alpine Meadows and Boreal to Northstar. Electronic message boards will be used on the highways for which exits to use for event parking.

On Sunday, only Northstar will be used for parking.

CHP will provide traffic control at the base of Alpine Meadows Road and Highway 89 on Saturday and Highway 267 at Northstar Drive on Saturday and Sunday to monitor backups.
