Motorists Advised of Heavy Congestion in Kings Beach on Sunday
Celebration of Life to be Held for Former North Tahoe Fire Chief
KINGS BEACH – Caltrans is advising motorists to expect traffic delays and limited parking in the Kings Beach area on Sunday morning during a memorial service for former North Tahoe Fire Chief Duane Whitelaw.
The celebration of life will be held from 10 a.m. to noon at the North Tahoe Events Center, 8318 North Tahoe Boulevard (State Highway 28). There will be fire aparatus parked along the shoulder of Highway 28 and public parking areas are expected to fill up quickly.
Whitelaw was also a Placer County Parks Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer of the North Tahoe Public Utility District (NTPUD). The service is expected to be very well attended. Fire apparatus will line 300-400 feet of Highway 28 on the lakeside leading up to the North Tahoe Events Center and there will be a static display of apparatus.
NTPUD has reserved the parking lot at the Kings Beach State Recreation Area until noon for attendees, so beachgoers will have to find other parking until after the service.
